So December has been pretty stressful for me. After what felt like forever, I emerged, blinking and bewildered, from the stressful, caffeine-fuelled, darkness of dissertation hell, and stumbled straight into the bright lights of Christmas festivities and last minute panic buying. That was quite the adjustment. But after an incredibly fun night out in Edinburgh with the lovely Jules, taking advantage of the bars' and clubs' Christmas extended licences, I am now nestled back at my parents' home, relaxing and eating and drinking and being merry.

Today was really lovely. My grandparents are staying with us, so we opened our stockings together in their room, then headed downstairs for a bacon, egg, sausage, pancake and maple syrup breakfast feast, washed down with plenty of bucks fizz. Nothing says Christmas like alcohol at 9am! Next we were on to presents and we were all incredibly spoilt this year, feeling so lucky. The rest of the day is a haze of turkey, wine, trifle, cheese, port, tea, chocolate, whisky and playing with our new toys, which for me mostly means beauty products and books! It was perfect, and I'm feeling totally relaxed, happy and incredibly spoilt.

Tomorrow, I'm off for dinner and dancing with my closest friends and then I'm off to Canada to visit my dad and family and get some skiing done. I'm so excited! I couldn't really ask for a better week.

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas, full of food, family and fun! Now we just have to think about our New Year's Resolutions. I've already got a couple up my sleeve... Here's to 2013!
